Woman killed in Dump Truck Crash

At 1:15 P.M. on the afternoon of August 28, 2024, Troopers from SP Lockport rushed to the scene of a serious two-vehicle collision at the junction of Beattie Avenue and Hamm Road in Lockport. Upon investigation, it was found that a 2024 Honda Civic failed to yield the right of way as it turned left onto Beattie Avenue from Hamm Road, resulting in a collision with a southbound 2016 Kenworth dump truck on Beattie Avenue. The impact caused the dump truck to strike the driver's side of the Honda. Tragically, the driver of the Honda, Laurie J. Wright, aged 70 from Lockport, NY, was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the operator of the dump truck thankfully sustained no injuries.

The NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in this investigation.
