Utica Man Arrested Following Traffic Stop in Waterville; Cocaine and Stolen Property Recovered

Waterville, NY – A routine traffic stop in the Village of Waterville led to the arrest of a Utica man and the discovery of stolen property and narcotics, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.

On February 25, 2025, at 3:09 P.M., a deputy from the Waterville Field Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the village. During the course of the investigation, a cell phone was found discarded on a nearby sidewalk—later determined to have been thrown from the vehicle. The phone was subsequently reported stolen by a victim in the Town of Sangerfield.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Anthony Case, 31, of Utica. A quantity of cocaine was also discovered during the arrest.

Charges Filed Against Suspect

Case was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building, where he was charged with:

  • Criminal Tampering in the 3rd Degree

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th Degree

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree

  • Petit Larceny

Case was issued appearance tickets along with several uniform traffic tickets (UTTs) for future court dates in both the Town of Sangerfield and the Village of Waterville.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the New York State Police (NYSP) and Still Works Towing for their assistance at the scene.
