On January 26, 2024, State Police members arrested Christopher J. Staves, age 53 of Tupper Lake, NY for criminal mischief 3rd, and resisting arrest.
On January 26, 2024, at approximately 1:42 a.m., Troopers responded to Church Street in the town of Tupper Lake for a criminal mischief complaint. An investigation determined Staves became irate in his apartment and started throwing items damaging two windows. As Troopers were attempting to interview Staves regarding the incident, he refused and started resisting arrest. Troopers were able to detain Staves and place him in custody. Staves was transported to SP Tupper Lake for processing. He was arraigned in the Village of Tupper Lake Court where he was released with an order of protection put in place.
On January 26, 2024, at approximately 6:08 a.m., Troopers responded back to Church Street in the town of Tupper Lake for another criminal mischief complaint. An investigation determined; that Staves violated the court order of protection by returning to the residence after being arrested. Staves started throwing items in the kitchen damaging another window. Staves and the victim were involved in a verbal argument, which led to Staves going into his bedroom, grabbing a broken glass from the previous incident, and holding it near his neck. For the victims and Trooper's safety, Staves was tased and taken into custody.
Staves was arrested and transported to SP Tupper Lake for processing. He was charged with criminal mischief 3rd, and criminal contempt 2nd. He was arraigned in the Village of Tupper Lake Court and remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $2500 cash and, a $5000 bond.
