In a bold move to roll back Biden-era green energy policies, President Donald Trump has ordered an immediate end to stringent climate regulations on household appliances, calling for a return to what he describes as “common sense standards.”

During his administration, former President Joe Biden implemented a series of energy efficiency mandates targeting household items such as gas stoves, washing machines, and dishwashers. These regulations were intended to reduce energy consumption and lower carbon emissions. However, critics—including energy experts and manufacturers—argued that the new standards would drive up costs, limit consumer choice, and result in appliances that are less effective than their predecessors.

Early Tuesday morning, Trump took to Truth Social to announce his directive, instructing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to immediately reverse Biden’s mandates. The agency, now led by former Rep. Lee Zeldin, has been tasked with dismantling the regulations and reinstating environmental policies from Trump’s first term, which prioritized deregulation and industry flexibility.

“Americans deserve appliances that actually work and don’t cost a fortune,” Trump wrote in his post. “We’re getting rid of Biden’s ridiculous mandates and bringing back common sense standards!”

Trump’s move is expected to reignite debate over environmental policy and energy efficiency. Supporters argue that lifting the restrictions will restore consumer choice and affordability, while opponents warn that it could lead to increased energy consumption and environmental consequences.

With this latest executive action, Trump signals a broader push to dismantle Biden’s climate agenda and restore the regulatory framework from his previous administration.
