TRAFFIC STOP TURNS INTO MAJOR DRUG BUST: SCHENECTADY MAN CAUGHT WITH 1.5 POUNDS OF METH

Wilton, NY – What started as a routine traffic stop on Interstate 87 quickly escalated into a major drug bust, leading to the arrest of a Schenectady man in possession of 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine, authorities confirmed.

Routine Stop Uncovers Shocking Find

On February 24, 2025, at approximately 3:56 p.m., New York State Police, along with the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office, pulled over a vehicle in Wilton, NY, for a traffic violation. Lateef K. Roberts, 25, of Schenectady, was a passenger in the vehicle.

As officers conducted their investigation, K9 Bush from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office detected narcotics. A search of Roberts’ belongings led to the discovery of 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine, which was immediately seized.

Felony Charges and No Bail

Roberts was taken into custody at the scene and transported to SP Wilton for processing. He now faces serious felony charges, including:🔹 Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (2nd Degree)🔹 Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (3rd Degree)

The driver of the vehicle was released without charges. Following his arraignment in Wilton Town Court, Roberts was remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have not disclosed whether the methamphetamine was intended for distribution or personal use, but the case remains under investigation.
