Utica, NY – Recruits from Oneida and Lewis County Sheriff's Offices took their first steps toward a career in law enforcement yesterday as they attended a welcome breakfast at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC). The event marked the start of their training in the Basic Peace Officer / Corrections Academy, a rigorous program designed to prepare them for the demands of a career in corrections and law enforcement.

The breakfast provided recruits and their families with an opportunity to meet instructors, network with fellow trainees, and gain insight into the coursework ahead. As they embark on this intensive training program, they will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to uphold public safety and maintain order within correctional facilities.

“This is an exciting and important step for these recruits as they begin their journey in law enforcement,” said a representative from the Sheriff's Office. “The academy will challenge them, but it will also prepare them for the critical responsibilities they will take on in our communities.”
