August is Child Support Awareness Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the vital work of child support professionals. These dedicated individuals work tirelessly behind the scenes, helping families access the resources and support they need.
The mission of the Oneida County Child Support Unit is to assist custodial parents and guardians to obtain child support by locating non-custodial parents, establishing paternity/parentage, obtaining financial and medical support orders, collecting support obligations and enforcing child support orders.
There are 9,974 cases in the Child Support Unit, and in 2023, $20,456,323 was collected and distributed to parents and guardians to support children in Oneida County.
The lights on the Oneida County Office Building in Utica have be purple and green in honor of Child Support Awareness Month and the Child Support Unit will be distributing information and answering questions outside of the building from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on August 28th.
