On Wednesday evening November 27th at 11:30pm New Hartford Police Officers were alerted to a wanted man being sought by NYS Parole Officers in the Village of New Hartford. The parolee, Kareem Thomas, age 39, of Utica, who is on parole stemming from a murder conviction, was being sought by Parole Officers due to a violation of the terms of his parole. When Parole Officers located Thomas at a local establishment he fled on foot. Parole Officers pursued Thomas on foot but Thomas was able to make his way into his vehicle that was parked in the area.
Quick actions of responding New Hartford Police Officers that arrived to the area were able to trap Thomas's vehicle from getting away and were thereby able to end his flight. Thomas was charged with the following once The New Hartford Police Department took him into custody;
1) Felony Criminal Possession Controlled Substance-5th, With Intent To Sell, in violation of NYS PL 220.06
2) Misdemeanor Driving While Ability Impaired By The Consumption of Alcohol, in violation of NYS VTL1192
3) Misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated, in violation of NYS VTL1192
4) Refusal To Take Breath Test in violation of NYS VTL 1194
Thomas was processed on the above charges at The New Hartford Police Department and then transported to The Oneida County Jail to be held for arraignment in The Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Court. Thomas is currently being held at Jail on these charges as we all as a Violation of Parole Warrant.
