Police are Investigating a Fatal Car Collision in Town of Wawarsing NY

On January 18, 2025, at approximately 10:55 p.m., Troopers out of the Ellenville barracks responded to a one-car motor vehicle collision on Otens Rd in the town of Wawarsing.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling eastbound on Otens Rd when due to adverse weather conditions, the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree.  The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle identified as Tammy Hyatt, age 56, of Ellenville, NY, was extricated from the vehicle. Troopers attempted life-saving measures, but ultimately Hyatt succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
