Rome Health is building a hybrid operating room designed to support advanced surgeries that can't be performed in the hospital's existing operating rooms. The new hybrid OR, funded by a $500,000 grant from Oneida County, will be part of the Kaplan Center for Surgical Services, which is currently under construction and will feature four operating rooms. On Wednesday, Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente Jr. presented the check for the grant, which is funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, to hospital President/CEO AnneMarie Czyz during a press conference at the hospital. The addition of the hybrid OR will enhance local access to specialized surgeries and interventions, while also helping the hospital attract and retain specialists, according to Czyz.
