Man Arrested After Attempting to Pass Counterfeit Bills in Champlain NY

Champlain, NY – April 5, 2025 — A Canadian man is facing felony charges after allegedly attempting to pass counterfeit money at a local gas station in the town of Champlain.

New York State Police arrested Dominic Vo, 23, of Prevost, Quebec, after responding to a fraud complaint at the Mobil gas station on Route 11 around 11:55 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to investigators, Vo entered the convenience store and asked to exchange two fifty-dollar bills. When store employees tested the bills, they discovered they were counterfeit and immediately contacted authorities.

Troopers arrived on scene and took Vo into custody without incident. He was transported to SP Champlain for processing and charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the First Degree, a class C felony.

Vo was later arraigned in the Town of Champlain Court and released on his own recognizance. The investigation remains ongoing.
