On January 3, 2025, members of the State Police arrested Austin D. Potter, age 24, of Malone, NY, on charges of third-degree assault, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, aggravated family offense, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
At approximately 10:10 a.m. on January 3, 2025, Troopers responded to a domestic dispute on Murray Street in the town of Malone. The investigation revealed that Potter and the victim had a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation when Potter struck the victim in the face. As the victim attempted to leave the residence, Potter forcefully pushed the victim back, preventing them from leaving. Eventually, the victim managed to escape and contact law enforcement.
Upon his arrest, Potter was found to be in possession of narcotics. He was taken to SP Malone for processing and subsequently arraigned in the Town of Malone Court, where he was released on his own recognizance.
