Major Meth Lab Bust in Schuyler County: Arrest Made in Reading Drug Raid
April 4, 2025 – Reading, NY — A coordinated drug raid in Schuyler County led to the discovery of a significant methamphetamine operation and the arrest of a local man, authorities announced Thursday.
On the morning of April 3, the New York State Police Troop E Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET), alongside uniformed officers and the Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team West (CCSERT West), executed a search warrant at a residence located at 2665 Church Road in the Town of Reading.
The operation, part of an ongoing investigation, revealed a clandestine drug lab and a trove of illegal substances and manufacturing materials. Law enforcement officials seized:
1 ounce of crystal methamphetamine
Approximately 3 ounces and an additional 2 gallons of suspected methamphetamine oil
Psilocybin mushrooms
300 pseudoephedrine pills
Digital scales and packaging materials
An antique pistol
Laboratory equipment, solvents, and chemical reagents used in meth production
The hazardous materials, including chemical reagents used in the illicit production of methamphetamine, were safely removed by CCSERT specialists.
Following the search, 44-year-old Jeremy Wright, a resident of Reading, was arrested and charged with multiple felony offenses, including:
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree (Class A-II Felony)
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree with intent to sell (Class B Felony)
Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony)
Wright was processed at the State Police barracks in Dundee and subsequently transported to Schuyler County Jail, where he awaits arraignment in Centralized Arraignment Court.
Authorities say the investigation remains active, and further charges or arrests may be pending. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity to local law enforcement as the crackdown on illegal drug manufacturing continues across the region.
