Fatal Dirt Bike Crash Under Investigation in Onondaga County NY

Onondaga, NY — April 7, 2025 — A tragic dirt bike accident in Onondaga County has claimed the life of a 33-year-old Auburn man, prompting an ongoing investigation by New York State Police.

At approximately 7:32 p.m., troopers from SP Lafayette responded to a call reporting a dirt bike crash on a rugged trail just north of 4163 Tanner Road in the Town of Onondaga. Upon arrival, first responders discovered Caleb T. Devoe, the operator of a 2011 Yamaha dirt bike, at the bottom of a 5-foot embankment, calling out for help.

According to police, Devoe had veered off the trail for reasons still unknown and suffered a serious fall down the embankment. Bystanders located him and contacted emergency services.

Devoe was conscious when he was placed in a TLC Ambulance, but his condition rapidly deteriorated. En route to the hospital, he lost consciousness and went into cardiac arrest. Despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, Devoe was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

The exact cause of the crash remains unclear, and State Police say the investigation is ongoing.
