On Friday, July 21st, around 11:58 p.m. Officer Linnertz stopped a man in the 100 block of Congress Avenue for riding his bicycle in the street without lights. Officers Bush and Canestrare provided backup on the stop. When talking to the male, identified as 18-year-old Shymiere Boyd, the Officers learned he had an active arrest warrant. As Officers were speaking to Boyd, he kept reaching into his pocket for what he said was a phone and turning his body away from the officers. He was asked to stop but did not obey the officer's commands. Officers eventually ended up searching Boyd and found a loaded 9mm Beretta Nano, which had been previously reported stolen, as well as 30 Glassine envelopes containing heroin, and rolling papers with cannabis. Boyd was transported and booked into the Onondaga County Justice Center for his warrant. He was also charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, and one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree. We would like to thank our Officers for helping to get a stolen gun, as well as more illegal drugs off of City streets.
