After a very successful inaugural Town of Vernon Town Hall Community Forum, our
second forum of the series is “A Night with Law Enforcement and Public Safety” and will
feature Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol and his staff of the Sheriff’s Office.
Stemming from interests expressed at Sheriff Maciol’s presentation at the first forum, a tentative list of topics includes:
Law Enforcement relationship to State Police, City of Sherrill, and Village of
Vernon
Civil division including execution of warrants, eviction notices, and judgments
“Uniformed Patrol” operations and recruitment opportunities
Child Safety, SAFE CHILD, and Child Advocacy Center (CAC)
Municipal Security Unit – Special Patrol Officer in our schools
Pistol Permits – overview, permitting process, and licensing
U.A.S. (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) Team including a live demonstration of
technology and its uses in public safety
Corrections including goals, security, supervision, safety, and care
The Town Hall Community Forum will be held on November 20th from 6:00 PM until 8:30
PM at The Spot, 5571 State Route 5 in Vernon. All residents from the County, including
the Towns of Vernon and Verona, the City of Sherrill, and the Villages of Vernon and Oneida
Castle, are encouraged to attend. There is no cost for the Forum and it is open to the
public. For further information, feel free to text County Legislator Keith Schiebel at 315-
